Our website is an online catalogue. You cannot complete a purchase through it.
Information we collect
When you complete a form or contact us, we may collect your email address, first name, last name, phone number, preferred store location, and any information you include in your message. The information requested depends on the form or reason for contacting us.
Our website also uses Google Analytics and Meta Pixel. These tools may collect information about your visit, such as the pages you view, how you arrived at our website, your interactions with the site, and information about your browser or device. They may use cookies or similar technologies to recognize your browser.
How we use information
We use information you provide to respond to inquiries, connect you with your preferred store, and send information you request. If you subscribe to marketing updates, we use your contact information to send news about furniture, new products, sales, and exclusive offers.
We use the Meta (Facebook) Pixel on our website to measure the effectiveness of our advertising and to understand how visitors interact with our site. The Meta Pixel collects standard technical information such as your IP address, browser type, and pages visited, and uses Facebook's own browser and advertising identifiers to help attribute site visits to Facebook and Instagram ad campaigns. We do not currently use the Meta Pixel to transmit form submissions or personal contact information, such as your name, email address, or phone number, to Meta.
We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use our website. Google Analytics may use cookies and similar technologies to collect information such as your IP address, device and browser type, pages viewed, and time spent on our site. We use Google Analytics to track conversion events such as completed purchases and qualified sales inquiries. We may also use Google Analytics advertising features, including Google Signals and remarketing, which allow us to show ads to past visitors across Google's advertising network and report on advertising performance. You can opt out of these advertising features at any time through Google's Ads Settings.
We do not treat a product inquiry as permission to add you to our email or text marketing list unless we have the consent or other authority required by law.
Marketing and tracking choices
You can unsubscribe from marketing emails using the link in any marketing email or by contacting us at info@smittysfurniture.com. Unsubscribing from emails does not necessarily stop ads you may see on other websites or platforms.
You can use your browser settings to limit or delete cookies. You can manage how Meta uses information for ads through your Facebook or Instagram ad settings. Limiting cookies or changing ad settings may not prevent all advertising; it may make the ads you see less relevant.
If we offer marketing by text message, we will explain that choice and obtain the consent required before sending promotional texts.
When we share information
We use service providers to help operate our website and communications. These include Mailchimp for email marketing, Google Analytics for website measurement, and Meta Pixel for advertising measurement and related advertising purposes. Information collected through Google Analytics and Meta Pixel is shared with Google and Meta, respectively, and may be handled under their own privacy practices.
We may also disclose information when required or permitted by law, or as part of a business transaction, subject to applicable privacy requirements. We do not sell customer contact lists.
Processing outside Canada
Mailchimp, Google, Meta, or other service providers may process or store information outside Canada. Information processed in another country may be accessible to authorities there under that country’s laws. Smitty’s remains responsible for personal information under its control and takes steps appropriate to the information to protect it when using service providers.
How we protect and retain information
We use safeguards appropriate to the information we hold to protect it against unauthorized access, use, or disclosure.
We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes described in this policy or to meet applicable legal obligations. When it is no longer needed, we securely delete or dispose of it.
